Robert (Rob) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Statistics at Indiana University. He has worked on several research projects in application areas like social media, health safety, music, and human rights involving statistical techniques such as generalized/mixed effect regression, state space modeling, capture-recapture, and Bayesian approaches.

In 2012, Rob earned his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University with majors in Economics, Mathematics, and Political Science and a minor in Religious Studies. Two years later, he earned his Master’s Degree in Economics and began tutoring college students professionally in the subjects of economics and statistics. In 2017, he joined the Master of Statistical Science Program (MSSS) at Indiana University and then in 2019 was accepted into the Statistics PhD program. He has completed all qualification exams and course requirements.

Since Fall 2022, he was hired on at Indiana University as a Visiting Lecturer where he teaches up to three sections (~100 students per class) of Business Statistics per semester. On March 24, 2023, he successfully defended his dissertation proposal in front of his research committee. Currently, he is drafting his dissertation with a working title: “Capture-Recapture with Covariates: The Bayesian Logistic Capture-Recapture Model with Extensions” and expects to earn his PhD degree in the Spring of 2024.

In his spare time, Rob enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary, and his 2 year old son, Theodore.
